I saw an image of the Horsehead nebula in a book as a boy and always imagined it would be very difficult for an amateur to image. Just shows how much easier modern equipment makes things. A very exciting moment when it first showed up on the laptop screen. This image shows the narrow field of view resulting from the small chip. This is at a focal length of 660mm. Was my first use of an Ha filter.
Date: 2nd March 2006.
Scope: Nexstar 8" GPS in alt az with Meade 3.3 focal reducer and Ha filter.
Camera: Atik 2HS.
AVI converted to BMPs in Registax. Combined in Maxim and processed in Photoshop. Noel Carboni's astro processing tools used to create the Ha colouration.
